There are more women farmers than ever before, but they produce less than men. Why;

Subject: Female farmers in the USA (study).

It would be very positive to have thorough research on the number of women professionals who decided to work professionally in agriculture or animal husbandry around the developed world in the last years of the crisis.

As the new - modern - agricultural technology in Europe comes with great speed to stay and help those involved in agricultural production, the position of a woman - farmer - is becoming more and more relevant.

The woman peasant beautifies and gives life and breath to the countryside, changing the population with younger ages.

In the United States, women farmers have increased by 27% in the last five years.

And we are not talking about farmers' wives here: we are talking about landowners, active farmers.

And yet, farms run by men, according to a new feature in the Pacific Standard, earn almost twice as much as those run by women.

This gender gap is as large as any other type of business. So what's going on ;

The Pacific Standard notes a few different issues.

Some of these are easier to explain:

For example, female holdings tend to be much smaller than male holdings.

For larger farms, are they earning $ 50,000 or more per year? Again, 27% of male farms meet the requirements, but only 16% of female farms.

And nearly a third are small farms, earning less than $ 1,000 a year.

This emerging conclusion can be partly explained by the specific criteria the USDA uses.

 Female farms and micro-farms generally sell value-added products made or processed from raw materials, not the ingredients themselves.

 This could include jams, bread, and cheeses, which are only sometimes counted in USDA data.

But there are other insidious institutional reasons for the wage gap.

A 2020 study of women farmers found cases of government loan denial, difficulty surviving in a world dominated mainly by men (in terms of landlords), and a general feeling of profound rejection. Given how difficult it is to start a farm is wildly harsh - these feelings can lead to a severe disadvantage in an industry where one person really can not do it alone.

In conclusion, women like agriculture and animal husbandry on a stable income and security basis.
